Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - While focused on oil painting, preferring landscapes of the Marburg area as well as still lifes, Ubbelohde is best known for his 448 illustrations for a 1909 edition of Grimm's Fairy Tales, on which he worked for three years, as well as for his countless other book illustrations, postcards and bookplates. - Traces of a postmark; small tear in left margin.
