Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - After studying at the Nuremberg and Munich academies, Recknagel applied himself to landscape painting, specializing in Alpine scenery as well as hunting scenes and game. His preferred motifs including chamois, wood grouse and stags. - Self-addressed by the collector. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
