To Barbara (Betty) Gaun (1891-1967), who was housekeeper of the Wittgensteins in their Palais in Argentinierstraße from 1912 to ca. 1951: “As Mr. Lichtenegger might have informed you, I totally agree with your arrangement of the furniture. However, I want you to receive a little picture as a souvenir beside the furniture. In your case, I thought about one of the flower paintings, which hang in my Porcelain room in the first floor in Argentinierstrasse. I thought about this, so that you don’t think that I only spread things I don’t need anymore as souvenirs.
But Mr. Lichtenegger informed me that you don’t remember the pictures which hang there, and as you like the furniture, you should at least choose some of the Raulino leaves (Mr. Lichtenegger will show them to you) […]” (transl. from German). - The leaves were painted by Tobias Dionys Raulino (1785–1839), who created numerous vedutas showing the southern environment of Vienna. On stationary with printed letterhead. Insignificant traces of folding, otherwise well preserved..
