To the musician Frederick Allan Wilshire (1868-1944) with thanks for an invitation, but politely having to decline it: "Thank you very much for Your kind invitation. But I fear it is doubtful if I can come to Bristol even for the performance [...] November is a very busy month for me I am so sorry [...]". - From the 1930ies on until early 1950ies Vaughan Williams lived in Dorking and became an initiator of the "Dorking and District Refugee Committee", provided music for the Abinger Pageant to raise funds for Abinger church. He fostered all the community, whether rich or poor, to have access to highest quality music. - With embossed letter head.
