To the wife of Charles de Beauregard, editor of "La Gazette de France": "Si j'avais obtenu une réponse favorable, j'aurais sollicité de votre bienveillance l'honneur de vous la portre moi même: Je renonce donc à ce bonheur et vous prie de recevoir mes regrets [...]". - Rosine Stoltz was a prominent member of the Paris Opéra, where she created many leading roles, including Ascanio in Berlioz's "Benvenuto Cellini", Marguerite in Auber's "Le lac des fées", the title role in "Marie Stuart", and two Donizetti heroines, Léonor in "La favorite" and Zayda in "Dom Sébastien". Stoltz resigned from the Opera in 1847 after a scandal over her relationship with Léon Pillet. - Somewhat browned.
