Nietzsche [...]". - Best known for his portraits of Friedrich Nietzsche (1894) and Stefan George (1897-99), executed as drawings, paintings, busts and reliefs, Stoeving taught at the Berlin Technical University from 1892 and was a successful illustrator of magazines like "Die Gartenlaube" and "Berliner Architekturwelt". - Traces of a postal stamp. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
