Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Simon, who bought a house with his wife in Sainte-Marine near Combrit in 1901 and joined the artists' group "La Bande Noire", founded in 1895, was particularly inspired by life in Brittany. His paintings feature landscapes, fishing and farming life, portraits and religious processions, and he was one of the first teachers at the Paris "Académie de la Grande Chaumière" in 1902. - Small tear in lower margin. Self-addressed by the collector. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
