Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - An artist of the Munich Secession, Schuster-Woldan mainly applied himself to portraiture and landscape painting. The allegorical ceiling fresco in the Bundesratssaal in the Berlin Reichstag, created between 1901 and 1911, is his most famous work. - Traces of postal stamps; several small ink spots near upper margin. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
