Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - After studying at the Berlin Academy, Schott worked as a freelance artist in Berlin from 1885 onwards. Frequently commissioned by German Emperor Wilhelm II, he created numerous monuments in the Neo-Baroque and Art Nouveau style, the sculpture "Die Kugelspielerin" in Düsseldorf constituting his best-known work. - Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
