Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Come l'onda furiosa ed impotente costretta nella legge orizzontale l'umanitá nei sensi è prigioniera [...]". - Having attended the Rome Institute of Fine Arts, Sartorio attained wide popularity with his decorative friezes produced for the 5th "Esposizione Internazionale d'Arte" of Venice in 1903, the 1906 "Mostra Nazionale of Fine Arts", and the "Palazzo Montecitorio" in Rome (1908-12). He directed the 1919 motion picture "Il mistero di Galatea" and extensively travelled the Middle East, Japan and Latin America during the 1920s.
