Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A representative of the Düsseldorf School, Neuhaus applied himself to historical and genre painting, taught figural drawing and painting at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Düsseldorf since 1884, and created a painting of a visit of German Emperor Wilhelm I to the artists' association "Malkasten" for the interior decoration of the Düsseldorf Rathaus. - Traces of 2 postmarks. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
