A small strip of paper, probably clipped from a longer letter: "Mit herzlichen Grüßen" ("with affectionate regards"). - Munkácsy was a Hungarian realist painter who produced national art dedicated to his country's fight for freedom, as well as salon art. Among his most famous works count "The Last Day of a Condemned Man" (1869), which won the Gold Medal of the Paris Salon in 1870, and the "Hungarian Conquest" (1887) for the House of Parliament in Vienna. Since 1950 Hungary has awarded the "Munkácsy Mihály-díj" (Mihály-Munkácsy-prize) to Hungarian artists.
