An eine Dame: "Auf Ihr wert. Schreiben teile ich höflichst mit, daß ich mich mit dem Gedanken - den Wehrmann auch im kleinen in Holz herzustellen, nicht ganz befreunden kann. Ich selbst kann mich mit derartigem nicht beschäftigen - da mir hiezu die Zeit fehlt, also würde es sich in diesem Falle um eine Kopie von fremder Hand handeln. Im akad. Gymnasium wurde ein derartiger Versuch gemacht - es wurde ein Zerrbild schlechtester Sorte [...]". - Müllners "Wehrmann" (auch "Wehrmann in Eisen" oder "Eiserner Wehrmann") war eine Skulptur aus Holz; sie gilt als erste ihrer Art für Kriegsnagelungen, in deren Rahmen während des Ersten Weltkriegs gegen eine Spende ein Nagel in ein dafür aufgestelltes hölzernes Objekt eingeschlagen wurde..

Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Mit Vergnügen hier meine Unterschrift [...]". - Exhibiting his works at the Vienna Secession from 1906 and the Künstlerhaus from 1912 onwards, Müllner was a teacher at the Vienna Academy for 38 years. His oeuvre comprises a war memorial in the University of Vienna as well as neoclassical sculptures, including a fountain in the garden of Franz Schubert's birthplace and the "Monument to Youth" in front of the Temple of Theseus in Vienna (inofficially regarded as the city's most-photographed statue).
