Gr.-4°. – An den Genetiker und Molekularbiologen Hans Ferdinand Linskens (1921–2007) mit dem Ausdruck seiner Freude, „to see you soon in Naples“ (Br. v. 4. Juni 1976), und mit der Bestätigung des Empfangs von „The molecular biology etc.“ sowie der Mitteilung, vor zwei Monaten eine Enkeltochter bekommen zu haben (Br. v. 6. Dezember 1977).
– Alberto Monroy war Assistenzprofessor für Anatomie in Palermo und leitete nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg das Physiologische Laboratorium der Zoologischen Station in Neapel. Nach einer Tätigkeit als Professor und Leiter des Instituts für Vergleichende Anatomie in Palermo begründete und leitete Monroy das Institut für Molekulare Embryologie in Neapel und übernahm 1976 die Leitung der Zoologischen Station. „His career as an embryologist spanned the biological revolutions of this century following upon the dual triumphs, in the 1930s, of metabolism and genetics [...] There [i. e. Palermo] he would lead, until 1969, the productive Institute of Comparative Anatomy, and from that seat, influence personally and positively the whole course of Italian biology. In modest but efficient quarters, on the narrow Via Archirafi in a less than opulent part of town, Monroy’s institute had a more glittering and international clientele than the royal hotel at the other end of the city, or the elegant spas of Mondello“ (Paul R.
