To an unnamed recipient concerning his book "La Pologne martyre", informing the addressee that the preface was sent to the newspapers of Paris and the departements. Michelet notes that an earlier sale of the publication would not have helped, because the media would not have noticed it. Michelet notes that MM. Lacroix make people jealous to appear with the recipient. Michelet asks the addressee to tell MM. Lacroix the date for putting the book on the market, and that both of them, Michelet and the addressee, have to decide about the copies they want to give to the newspapers: "La préface du nouveau livre (La pologne martyre) a été envoyée ce matin aux jounaux de paris et des départemens [!].
On les prévient qu'elle paraît lundi. Si nous mettions en vente plus tôt, ils n'inféreraient rien. MM. Lacroix font fort jaloux de paraître avec vous, et pas plus tard. Je leur écris de vous télégraphier le moment de leur mise en vente. Aubertin, an ex-professor of Louis le grand, for his excellent and deep knowledge of the French language. Aubertin wrote a Grammar book that is, in Michelet's view, useful for everybody, also for foreigners, and Michelet contacts Aubertin often in doubtful cases concerning the French language, with great success: "Je reviens du midi, cher monsieur, et à propos pour vous parler d'une affaire qui, je crois, serait excellente.
M. Aubertin Ex-professeur à Louis le grand, etc est l'homme de France qui sait le mieux, le plus pofondément cette langue française que tous croyant savoir, et que si peu savent [...] je l'ai consulté souvent, et avec grand fruit, en choses douteuses.
