Charming letter to Maurice Sand, accepting an invitation to a puppet play: "Je serai tout à fait heureux d’aller vous serrer la main et vous applaudir Mercredi soir. Et je verrai vos marionnettes avec un plaisir infini. Présentez, je vous prie, mes compliments respectueux à madame Sand [...]". - Maurice Sand was a talented puppeteer and puppet maker who was often assisted by his famous mother in the creation of new puppets and scenarios for his plays. One of George Sand's final publications was a long article on puppet theater in Le Temps that was inspired by the work of her beloved son.

Et je verrai vos marionnettes avec un plaisir infini. Présentez, je vous prie, mes compliments respectueux à madame Sand [...]“. – Maurice Sand war bekannt dafür, daß er zum Zeitvertreib kleine Stücke für Marionetten entwarf, bei denen es keine Dialoge, sondern lediglich ein Szenario gab. Die Puppen hierzu fertigte er – oft unter Mitwirkung seiner Mutter – selber an. – Auf Briefpapier mit gedr. Monogramm und Adresse.

Vous n’en avez pas tenu compte. Je jette au panier toutes vos enveloppes sans les ouvrir. Je vous prie encore une fois de cesser ces envois. Recevez mes salutations | Guy de Maupassant“. – Maupassant moved to rue Boccador in July 1890 and lived there untiluntil his two suicide attempts in January 1892 and the subsequent admission to the sanatorium of Dr. Blanche, where he died the year after.
