A letter of thanks from the Duke of Württemberg for assistance received by way of his good friend Nicolas Maillot de la Treille, court chaplain and advisor to Elector Karl Theodor. The Duke fears, however, that Maillot has enthused too much about him. A planned meeting with the addressee would be postponed due to adverse circumstances, including the illness of one of his daughters and himself. Louis Eugene hopes to be able to leave the next day and, after four or five days on the road, reach Paris: "Je ne pois assez vous témoigner combien je suis pénétré des soins officieux dont vous daignez me prévenir d'une manière si obligeante.
