Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Best known for his landscapes and city paintings in an impressionist style, Kallmorgen co-founded the Grötzing artists' colony in 1890 and started teaching at the Berlin Academy in 1901, study trips taking him to Paris, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway and Russia. - Traces of postmarks; the postmark on verso slightly showing through. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
