Willy Jaeckel (1888–1944), Graphiker und Maler. Albumblatt mit e. U. („W. G. [?] Jaeckel“). O. O. u. D. 1 S. Qu.-32°. – Willy Jaeckel lebte seit 1913 in Berlin, „wo er bei der ‚Juryfreien Kunstschau’ großen Anklang fand. Er war Mitglied der ‚Neuen Sezession’ und gehörte nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg der Preußischen Akademie der Künste an“ (DBE). Vorzugsweise in Pastell arbeitend, entstanden daneben Graphiken in verschiedenen Techniken, vor allem der Kaltnadelradierung (u. a. 200 Kaltnadelradierungen zur Bibel „Menschgott-Gott-Gottmensch“, 1919–23); seit 1925 unterrichtete Jaeckel an der Staatlichen Kunstschule in Berlin.

Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Entsprechend Ihrem Wunsch! [...]". - One of the most prominent representatives of German Expressionism, Jaeckel created portraits, nudes, still lifes, landscapes and graphic works, and was one of the first to paint religious motifs in the expressionist style. His four-part fresco mural at the Bahlsen bakery in Hannover from 1917 constitutes one of his major works. - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
