Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Director of the Stuttgart Academy from 1902 to 1912, Haug was an impressionist artist specializing in scenes from the Napoleonic Wars, his work comprising paintings, lithographs, frescoes and book illustrations. - Traces of postmarks. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
