Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Making a name for himself as a decorative artist during the new construction of the Berlin Reichstag under Paul Wallot, Gussmann started teaching in Dresden in 1897 and opened a master studio for decorative painting in 1910. His main works include the interior decoration of the new city hall and the Café Central in Dresden as well as the Eisenach Burschenschaftsdenkmal. - Traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
