Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A teacher at the Royal School of Art in Berlin from 1902 to 1928, Greve created portraits, still lifes, landscape paintings, altarpieces and frescoes, and is considered the most prominent Mecklenburg church painter of his day. His most important works include the murals "Jesus und seine Jünger" and "Himmelfahrt Christi". - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
