As Governor-General of Lombardy, to Paolo della Silva, “Capo del Tribunale Araldico”, informing him on behalf of the State Chancellor Prince Kaunitz-Rietberg of Maria Theresa’s decision that, in the coming autumn, the wedding of her then fifteen-year-old son Archduke Ferdinand to Princess Maria Beatrice d’Este would take place in Milan: „[…] che nel prossimo Autunno S. A. R. l’Arciduca Ferdinando venga a Milano per celebrarvi le Sue Reali Nozze con la Ser[enissi]ma Principessa Maria Ricciarda, e per fare in questa Città stabile residenza con la futura Archiduchessa Sua Sposa […]“. Of particular cultural-historical interest is the direct connection with Mozart’s Milanese operatic sojourns: For the wedding festivities scheduled for October 1771, the fifteen-year-old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed the serenata teatrale Ascanio in Alba, which premiered at the Teatro Ducale in Milan on 17 October 1771..
