Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur, 1898-1988
"Following the family's carpentry business collapse, Ferrari started searching for a job in the car industry. He unsuccessfully volunteered his services to Fiat in Turin. In 1920, he joined the racing department of Alfa Romeo as a driver and won his first Grand Prix in 1923 in Ravenna on the Savio Circuit. 1924 was his best season, with three wins. Being the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix motor racing team, and subsequently of the Ferrari automobile marque, Ferraro was widely known as ""il Commendatore"" or ""il Drake"". In his final years he was often referred to as ""l'Ingegnere"" (the Engineer) or ""il Grande Vecchio (the Great Old Man)""."

From the year he passed away. „Grazie delle congratulazioni in occasione del Gran Premio die Montecarlo e cordial saluti“. - The 1988 Monaco Grand Prix (formally the 46e Grand Prix de Monaco) was a Formula One motor race held on 15 May 1988 at the Circuit de Monaco, Monte Carlo. It was the third race of the 1988 Formula One World Championship. The 78-lap race was won by Frenchman Alain Prost, driving a McLaren-Honda. Prost took his 30th win – including 4th and final in Monaco – after Brazilian teammate Ayrton Senna crashed out late on while leading comfortably.
Austrian driver Gerhard Berger finished second in a Ferrari, with Italian teammate Michele Alboreto third, scoring his 20th podium..

Bei der Mille Miglia 1957 erlebte das Unternehmen seine schwärzeste Stunde, als der Englebert-bereifte Ferrari von Alfonso de Portago bei Guidizzolo in die Zuschauer raste und elf Menschen dabei ums Leben kamen. Sowohl gegen Ferrari als auch gegen die belgische Reifenfirma wurde Anklage wegen Totschlags erhoben. Beide Verfahren wurden jedoch später eingestellt.
