Edward Frederick Ertz (1862–1954), Maler und Stecher. E. Brief mit U., Pulborough, 22. März 1920, 1 Seite 8°. – An den Maler, Kunstautor und Sekretär der Society of Graphic Arts Frank L. Emmanuel (1865–1948): „Thank you for the invitation to join ,The Society of Graphic Art’ – I shall be pleased to join this Society as it is very comprehensive and seems a good idea […]”. – Der aus Canfield, Illinois, stammende Künstler war in Chicago als Stecher und Illustrator tätig und Mitbegründer der New Orleans Artists’ Association und des New Orleans Etching Clubs.
Seit 1885 in New York für das ,Century magazine’ tätig, ging Ertz drei Jahre später nach Paris, wo er mit Jules-Joseph Lefebvre (1836–1912), Jean-Joseph-Benjamin Constant (1845–1902) und Paul-Louis Delance (1848–1924) gemeinsam studierte und von 1892 bis 1899 als Professor für Malerei und Zeichnen an der Académie Delecluse in Paris tätig war. Später in England ansässig, stellte er regelmäßig aus und gewann zahlreiche Preise. Seine Gattin, Ethel Horsfall Ertz, war als Miniaturmalerin bekannt. – Auf Briefpapier mit gepr. Adresse..
