Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Auf Ihre Gesundheit! [...]". - Founding the humour magazine "Strix" in 1897, Engström created countless illustrations (tramps and drunkards constituting his preferred themes) and translated works by American writers including Charles Warton Stork and Harold Borland. - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
