Am rechten Rand einer an Mitzi Hernler adressierten Postkarte mit einer Reproduktion seines Bildes "Verlassen". - Adolf Echtler, Sohn eines Portraitmalers, studierte in Venedig und Wien sowie in München bei Wilhelm von Diez an der Kunstakademie. "Nach einem Aufenthalt in Paris 1877-86, wo er mehrmals im Salon ausstellte, kehrte er nach München zurück. Echtler schuf zahlreiche Genrebilder, oft mit Motiven aus dem Volksleben Venedigs und der Bretagne" (DBE). - Die Unterschrift mit kleinen Tintenwischern; die Adreßseite mit kleiner Montagespur.

Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ihre werthe Karte erhalten [...]". - After studying in Venice, Vienna and Munich, Echtler specialized in genre painting, exhibited his works in Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Dresden and Königsberg, and worked in Paris from 1877 to 1886 before moving to Munich with his son. - Traces of a postmark. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
