To the Polish pianist and composer Antoine de Kontski (1816-99), concerning the potential admission of the pianist Charles Poisot (1822-1904) to the "Société académique des Enfants d'Apollon", an orchestra bringing together professional musicians and amateurs. As president of the society, Alexis Dupont appoints Kontski as a "commissioner" responsible for gathering information "on the morality, the character, and the talent of the candidate" ahead of an admission: "Conformément à l’article 26 titre 2 du règlement de la Société académique des Enfants d’Apollon, lorsque le Président reçoit une demande d’admission, il doit nommer justement trois membres de la Société pour prendre des informations sur la moralité, le caractère, et le talent du candidat, et transmettre leurs observations, confidentiellement, à Mr le Chancelier.
Je viens donc vous prier, mon cher confrère, de vouloir bien remplir les foncions de commissaire afin de faire votre rapport sur la demande d’admission présenté par Monsieur Poisot compositeur et pianiste [...]". To a Mademoiselle Juliette, apologizing for not having answered her earlier because of a trip to Orléans. Apparently the recipient had wagered whether it was Dupont who sung at the funeral of Adélaïde d’Orléans (1777-1847), the younger sister of King Louis Philippe I. Dupont confirms this and expresses his hope that she won the bet: "J’ai bien du regret de venir si tard pour vous donner la réponse que vous m’avez demandée. Je désire que vous ayez gagné votre pari, c’est qui ai chanté au service fait au château pour Mme Adélaïde, mon voyage à Orléans ne m'a pas permis de venir plus promptement; et je suis d’autant plus désolé de ne pas vous rencontrer ce soir, qu’il me sera probablement impossible de vous voir au 11-20, veuillez donc Mademoiselle recevoir tous mes regrets et en faire part à toute votre bien aimable famille, veuillez rappeler de mon part à Monsieur Bapst qu’il me doit un dîner [...]".
- Alexis Dupont, who sang at the Opéra-Comique from 1821 to 1823 and at the Paris Opera from 1826 to 1841, was one of the favourite singers of Hector Berlioz, most notably creating the tenor solo in "Roméo et Juliette" in 1839.
