Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - After studying in St. Petersburg, Karlsruhe and Munich, Dücker settled in Düsseldorf in 1864, where he was appointed a teacher for landscape painting at the Academy of Arts in 1872, a position he held for the next 44 years, specializing in depicting the coastal scenery of Northern Germany, where he frequently travelled with his class. - Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
