To the publisher William Walker (1791-1867) in Edinburgh about a set of prints he just dropped off at the Spread Eagle Inn: "I am just returned from the Spread Eagle where I have left a Case containing 65 Proofs before the Title, 200 with the Title, and 100 Prints. No time has been lost in the Printing, for one Man's time has been entirely devoted to the Plate, yet the whole of the Impressions could not be got ready till this morning. You will perceive that the reason for my sending only 100 Prints was from want of room in the Case, the depth of which I a little miscalculated.

I shall keep the remaining 25 until I see you, unless you otherwise ordain [...] It is still in your power to reduce the Prints to the desired size, by the same means which the Printer must have reported to, that of cutting them round [...] Your letter containing the Draft for 85 Pounds came safe to hand, and I beg to return you my thanks for your promptitude in sending it [...] Hoping the Impressions will give satisfaction [...]"..
