November 1890. 4 Seiten auf Doppelblatt. 8°. – An einen namentlich nicht genannten Adressaten: „Dear Sir, As a Delegate of the Clarendon Prep + as having charge of the Series of Translations of Foreign Biological Memoirs, I write to make a suggestion + ask a question with reference to the work which you lately submitted to the Delegation on the Cumacea. The Delegates have been made aware of the importance of the work and of its great value to zoologists.
They have now given me leave to ask whether you would be disposed to offer them for publication in the Series I have mentioned, compendia such as are contained in the Bibliography of those Memoirs relating to the Cumacea or Monographs of this group which are specially inaccessible to English readers [...]”. – Burdon-Sanderson studierte in Edinburgh Medizin und hernach Chemie in Paris; 1870 wurde er Nachfolger von Michael Foster als Professor für praktische Physiologie und Histologie am University College London; von 1871 bis 78 war er „professor superintendent“ der neu eingerichteten Brown Institution, des ersten Laboratoriums für Pathologie in England. Später wurde er Jodrell Professor of Human Physiology am University College London als Nachfolger von William Sharpey, Lehrstuhlinhaber des Waynflete chairs of physiology an der Oxford University, Regius Professor für Medizin in Oxford und Präsident der British Association for the Advancement of Science. – Auf Briefpapier mit gepr.
