Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A student of Jozef Israëls, Blommers is a prominent representative of the Hague School and created popular maritime genre paintings inspired by fishing and beach life, which were largely sought after by English speaking collectors during his lifetime. - Traces of stamps. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
