Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Inspired by the scenery of East Prussia, Southern Germany and Tuscany, Becker specialized in landscape painting, was a co-founder of the Munich and Berlin Secessions, as well as a member of the German Künstlerbund, and a collector of artworks from the Far East. - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
