1944) ist bekannt für Bücher mit seinen Juxbriefen an Unternehmen, Prominente und Behörden samt deren Antwortschreiben. Das erste Buch „Zu Schade … zum Wegradieren“, das er zusammen mit seinem Schwager verfasste, enthält neben humorvollen Zeichnungen nur wenige dieser Briefe. Für das Buch „Bornemanns lachende Erben“ (1985) schrieb Bornemann unter dem Pseudonym „Carola von Gaestern“ verschiedene Prominente an, um diesen das Erbe jener fiktiven Witwe eines reichen Unternehmers in Aussicht zu stellen. 1988 erschien sein Buch „Glanz & Gloria. Christiaan Barnard (1822–2001), South African cardiac surgeon. Barnard’s personal passport, number C678250, issued on January 31, 1983. 38 pp. 8° (140:94 mm). – Affixed below the personal information page is his 57:38 mm passport snapshot, his blue ballpoint signature affixed on a clipped sheet of paper directly below. Bottom of the photo and the signature bear an imprint of a State Department seal. Several of the inside pages bear official visa stamps from Cape Town, Japan, Australia, Greece, Austria, France, Thailand, Singapore, Great Britain, Argentina and China. The two years of travels evidenced in this passport mark the first years of Barnard’s retirement as Head of the Cape Town Cardiothoractic Surgery Department in 1983, after a long struggle with rheumatoid arthritis in his hands. Rather than perform surgeries, he instead acted as the Scientist-in-Residence at the Oklahoma Transplantation Institute, as well as serving many institutions as an acting consultant. – In very good condition, with expected wear from handling and clipped corners.
