An Herrn Schmitz: „[…] Here I am again, back on these fine German Territories, and about to see my dear friends Mr. Franz Schwitz, and his wonderful family. I’m sure that Trummy [sein Trompeter] and I will want to buy some Lip Salve from you the day we arrive. I would like to buy $500 worth to ship home. Your salve is part of me, and that’s the way its [sic] going to be until I die. I have all the confidence in the world in your Lip Salve. So has every musician, all over the world whom I have given a box to when they have difficulties with their chops. (I mean their lips). Ha. Ha. If there’s anything that you wish of me such as publicities, etc. just say the word […]“
