Satisfying the request of an autograph collector: "Hoping the Autograph will prove more acceptable in this form I remain, Sir, Yours obediently [...]". - In the preceding year Woolgar had joined the Lyceum company under Charles Dillon. In March 1857 she appeared as Ophelia, Charles Dillon playing Prince Hamlet. A Daily News reviewer praised her glowingly: "Miss Woolgar's Ophelia was one of the finest performances of the character we have ever seen. It was full of genius, and the pathos of the mad scene was irresistible" (21 March 1857). - Traces of old mounting on the verso and heavy brownstaining.
