Andy Warhol, eigentlich Andrew Warhola, war ein amerikanischer Künstler, Filmemacher und Verleger sowie Mitbegründer und bedeutendster Vertreter der amerikanischen Pop Art. Seine Karriere begann bereits in den 1950er Jahren als Grafiker und Illustrator für Mode-, Hochglanz- und Lifestylemagazine und entwickelte sich schnell. Er hinterließ ein umfangreiches Gesamtwerk, das von einfachen Werbegrafiken bis zu Gemälden, Objekten, Filmen und Büchern reicht. Zu seinen bekanntesten Werken gehören „Campbell's Soup Cans” (1962), „Marilyn Diptych“ (1962), der experimentelle Film „Chelsea Girls“ (1966) und die Multimedia-Happenings „Exploding Plastic Inevitable“ (1966-67).

Signed and inscribed by the artist to the half title page, with an original illustration in his hand, being a drawing of his famous Campbell's Tomato Soup can, filling the majority of the page. Signed and inscribed „To Toby | without love | Campbell | Soup“ at the foot of the drawing in his hand. The page is also signed ('AW') by Warhol with his initials, in a different, darker ink, and most probably signed at a different time to the drawing. Accompanied by the dust jacket (some very minor, small faults to the edges).
A desirable example of an original drawing of one of Warhol's most iconic images. - With a note in Warhol’s hand „Andy | 475 5550“ giving the recipient his telephone number on a different piece of paper..

Signed ten times ("AW" or "Andy Warhol"), and Inscribed twice, to American actress Sylvia Miles, with 11 small ink drawings. Inscribed on the half-title: "To Sylvia my / darling / [soup can drawing with label: 'Campbells / creme [sic] of / chicken / soup'] / with love my love / Andy Warhol / Dec 1975," and again on title-page: "To Sylvia Miles / [soup can drawing] / AW / Andy Warhol." The drawings, sketches of Campbell's soup cans, most signed with initials, on half-title, title-page, and pages 1, 3, 17, 65, 81, 107, 123, 177 (with label: "FUCK"), and verso of 241.
