Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A member of the "Willingshäuser Malerkolonie" from 1880, Strützel specialized in landscapes frequently featuring peasants and farm animals. He was inspired by the Dachau scenery, where he preferred to spend his summers since 1885, and included Swedish motifs in his repertoire since his 1885 honeymoon in Brännö. - Several small ink spots; traces of angular folds near left corners. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
