Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A successful caricaturist after the First World War, Simmel created illustrations for newspapers and magazines, including the "Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung" and the "Lustige Blätter", his drawings frequently appearing in book-form as well. - Faint traces of 2 postmarks; light creases near upper left and lower right corner. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
