Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Bester Gruß [...]". - A member of the artists' association "Luitpold-Gruppe", Schuster-Woldan created large-sized myth and fairy tale paintings before turning to childrens' and women's portraiture in his later career. Several of his paintings made the title-page of the magazine "Jugend". - Self-addressed by the collector. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
