Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A member of the Berlin and Munich Secessions, Rhein contributed to the "Kriegszeit", an artistic pamphlet, during the First World War, applied himself to landscape painting and portraiture, and exhibited 13 works during the "Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung" between 1937 and 1944. - Several small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
