An Professor Ernst in Prag, der ihn um ein Autograph gebeten hatte: „[…] Da ich mich auf einer längeren Reise in Italien befand, konnte ich Ihrem Wunsch nicht rechtzeitig entsprechen […]“. – Die Postkarte zeigt „Dekan Matthias Wishofer, 12. Mai 1809. St. Johann, Tirol | Modelliert von Norbert Pfre[t]zschner.“. – Unter dem Einfluß Eduard Grützners studierte er Bildhauerei an den Akademien der bildenden Künste in München, Wien und Berlin. Als naturalistischer Denkmalbildhauer war er dann in Berlin, nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg in Lana tätig.

Er schuf u.a. das Bismarck-Denkmal auf der Rudelsburg/Saale und schrieb den Roman „Peter Reißer, der Wildmeister von Hinterriß“ (1923)..

Inscribed to Cora Scharlau, a relative of the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Der beste Freund! Prost! [...]". With a pen and ink sketch of a wine glass. - Born into a Tyrolean family of artists, Pfretzschner worked in Berlin from 1891 to 1913, his controversial 1896 "Young Bismarck" monument at the Rudelsburg near Bad Kösen constituting his main work. He contributed to the Berlin "Siegesallee" project and authored popular hunting novels. - Postmark on verso showing through; a few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
