Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - His style ranging from Classicism to Art Nouveau, Myslbek is best known for his monumental works reflecting the political and cultural advancement of Bohemia during its 19th century renaissance, including sculptures in the Prague National Theatre, St. Vitus Cathedral, Wenceslas Square, and Prague castle. He is credited with founding the modern Czech sculpting style. - Self-addressed by the collector. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
