Henry Moore

Bildhauer, 1898-1986

It was exhibited throughout last summer at Spoleto and was only returned to me a few weeks ago. For the last copy which went to my dalers in America, they gave me six thousand pounds for it, but I might be ready to reduce this a little, which I do sometimes, when the work goeds somewhere I would like it to be. An den Kunsthistoriker Bernhard Degenhart (1907–1999): „[...] It makes me very happy to read all you say in your letter and I am of course delighted that you like my work enough to buy this small figure. Oktober 1953). – „[...] I was away in Brazil, where a group of my sculptures were on exhibition in the Sao Paulo Biennial, and after that I went to Mexico [...] I have always admired Mexican sculpture tremendously, for it has been a big influence in my work and I have always wanted to see it in its own surroundings [...]“ (29.
