A very poetic letter to a friend who Le Braz calls "my dear and distinguished compatriot" ("Mon cher et distingué compatriot") in which he expresses his wish to see the other after a long time has passed. After apoligising for not having been in touch, he writes that he shouts out his salute on this meagre piece of paper: "Je tiens a vous le crié en hôte sur ce méchant bout de papier". Le Braz laments that tragic centuries will have passed since their last meeting: "J'aurais été d'autant plus heureux de vous revoir que des siècles - des siècles tragiques - seront écoulés depuis notre dernière entrevue".

He promises to visit his friend in his atelier one of these days and closes the letter with the alluding words "in the meantime, believe me" ("En attendant, croyez-moi"). - Le Braz was a Breton poet who researched and collected Bretonic folk songs, fairy-tales and legends, and who played a very important role in the regionalist movement in Brittany (emsav) at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Emsav still exists today and consists of political organisations, trade unions, economic groups, and cultural associations that aim to preserve and develop Bretonic culture..
