Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ich mach' mein' Sach und - lach [...]". - Starting out as a civil servant in the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, Larisch started teaching ornamental scripture and heraldry at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule in 1902, later switched to the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt and the Academy of Fine Arts, and devoted himself mainly to the improvement of teaching typographic design. - Some ink stains near upper left corner, small brown stain; faint creases near corners. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
