Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Koch was a freelance illustrator in Berlin from 1902, worked for the renowned "Berliner Illustrirte" and the magazine "Lustige Blätter", and started a successful career as an illustrator of childrens' books with the popular work "Die Häschenschule" in 1924. Many of his drawings and caricatures, as well as the byname "Gotha", were inspired by his hometown. - Small flaw to upper margin; a few small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
