Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Den kleinen Gefallen tat Ihnen gerne [...]". - A renowned animal and plein-air painter, his work frequently featuring peasant scenes with cattle and horses, Junghanns started teaching at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts in 1904 at the age of only 28, a position he maintained for 40 years. - Postmark on verso slightly showing through; slightly fingerstained. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
