Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Es wird mich sehr erfreuen Ihr Ansuch[en] einzuwilligen. In vorzuglichster [!] Hochachtung ganz ergebenst [...]". - Studying in Amsterdam and Brussels, Haverman specialized in portraiture, took study trips to France, Italy and Spain, and won several awards at exhibtions between 1879 and 1903. - A few small creases. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
