Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - A student of Reinhold Begas, Glümer was a member of the Berlin school of sculpture, his work comprising mostly busts and monuments, including the Ferdinand von Schill monument in Stralsund and the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument in Magdeburg. - Long drawn-out, vertical ink stain near left margin. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
